Make tax-supported research available to all

This letter is has been retired and can only be searched from Older Letters .

This letter supports campaigns of the Alliance for Taxpayer Access and The
Scholarly Publishing & Academic Resources Coalition.  It goes to the
Senate.

Dear: Senator

The Federal Government established the National Institutes of Health to
support medical research of importance to the American public. However,
there is currently no guarantee that the findings of this research will reach
the people it is intended to benefit.

The House has passed legislation mandating that all NIH-sponsored
research results be deposited into the National Library of Medicine's online
archive. Now, the Senate Committee on Appropriations has recommended
similar action.

I urge the Senate to join the House in passing this essential legislation to
ensure that the public receives maximum benefits from NIH-funded
research.

Sincerely yours

Your name and address
