Let's hear it for public health option!

This letter was prompted by a NYTimes report (6⁄21⁄09) that a large
majority of Americans favors a public health option. It goes to the President,
Vice President, and Congress.
Dear: _________________
A strong majority of Americans believe that our health care system needs to
be fundamentally changed or completely rebuilt, according to the latest
New York Times⁄CBS News poll. Most would be willing to pay higher taxes
so everyone could have health insurance, and believe that government
could do a better job than the private sector, at holding down health-care
costs.
Moreover, 57% percent believe the Democrats would do better in reforming
the health system; only 18% said Republicans would. Half of Republicans
said they would support a public plan, along with nearly three-fourths of
independents and almost nine in 10 Democrats.
These striking findings make a mockery of arguments by Congressional
opponents against a public health option. Congress must vote for a system
that includes a strong public option!
Sincerely yours
