Congress call for Iraq withdrawal now
This letter supports a campaign of the Friends Committee on National
Legislation (FCNL). It goes to Congress.
Dear: _________________
It is now clear that the continuing US presence in Iraq is nurturing increasing
violence, and that US forces have no possibility of rebuilding that sad land
and establishing a democratic system. New policies are essential.
Congress must refuse any further funding for the Iraq occupation unless it
is accompanied by clear plans to de-escalate the violent conflict, to end the
occupation and to return Iraq to the Iraqis. This new US policy must be
made clear to the Iraqi people; only this will allow a diminution of the tragic
violence.
I urge Congress to refuse any new Iraq funding unless the White House
agrees to promulgate a bold new ”peace and withdrawal” policy without
further delay.
Sincerely yours
